Whistling Dixie Wit A Cause
Puddles & Rocket's Litter 2007

Just a quick line about DIXIE. She is so smart and learning things so easily. I took her to a trainer (tall oaks) for an evaluation. He was very impressed with her. He really like her a lot. The trainer wants me to bring her to him as soon as her adult teeth are in. She was with 2 other pups who were 3 months old . Neither of the other pups (one which was his), showed much enthusiasm for retrieving. Then Dixie went to work and brought back all bumpers and pranced around and strutted with the bumpers in her mouth and wanted more. Almost couldn't get her back in her kennel.  She is looking great, and beginning to favor Rocky it seems by the shape of her head. She is turning a real dark yellow/ fox -red(as the trainer said). though still marbled somewhat with some light spots. She probably weighs about 35 lbs now and can really swim great when she is after those bumpers.  Dan

Here are some pictures of Lilly from a couple of weeks ago. She is already bigger now! We are all enjoying Lilly and she is a very sweet and well mannered dog. She listens great (for a puppy!).  She is already retrieving bumpers like a little champion hunter. She has a lot of drive in her for sure. We will send more recent pics soon.  Cameron Smith & family

Toby & Max
Windy & Bear's Litter 2007
Puddles & Rocket's Litter 2007

Toby and Max are pictured with their Mutt-Muffs on their ears, getting ready to leave for the airport to fly to Florida.
"Just a quick note to let you know we made it home okay. As soon as the engine started, the boys were sound asleep. and slept the entire time.  Toby's personality is starting to come out. He is quite vocal. He has found his bark! He is giving it back to Max now."  Camille

I took Dixie to the Vet for her 2nd round of vaccinations. the Vet really loved her. Everyone there has loved her both times I took Dixie there.  Dan

Dixie is pictured playing with her best friend.

Thor
Cali & Rocket's 2006 Litter

Thought you might enjoy these pictures of Thor. He came from Rocket and Cali's litter in March of 2006. We flew him into Houston. I took him with me last hunting season, and he did really well! Especially since he was only nine months old! He is back with the trainer now and will be until November. The trainer is finishing him on the whistle and hand signals.
I'm really looking forward to hunting with him again this year! Hope you like the pictures.  Brannon
Thor is pictured to the right at 7 weeks of age.

Cody
Jamie & Bear's 2005 Litter

Thought you would like to know that Cody from Jamie and Bear October 2005 past his first UKC hunt test in the started field yesterday April 22 at the Sandusky Bay Hunter Retriever Club.
Also want to thank you for a wonderful dog. We love him and all the kids in the neighborhood love him too. He passes out labrador kisses to everyone but when he sees a bird to retrieve he is all business. Thanks again he is a treasure to the whole family.  David

Bob and I just wanted you to know how much we love Woody. He is so smart---is house broken--and has never messed up his crate. From the first night, he slept through the night without a whimper. He sits, lies down, will fetch--and usually comes when called. He is also doing very well walking on a leash--when he gets older, he will be going with me on my 3 mile walks. (Right now I walk my 3 miles---then walk him another 2-3 miles each day.) He is so energetic--and loves to run in the wooded ravine behind our home. We can let him off leash and he stays right with us. Here are some pictures of Woody in his woods taken at 16 weeks. As you can see he is growing!  Thank you for a wonderful puppy!  Jan & Bob

Abbey is now 22lbs and eating well.  She has adjusted to the new surroundings and is housebroken and learning her commands very well. She is one smart pup!  She has just started her 1 week at training school and as you thought, she is a Princess...Loves people, and could care less about playing with the other dogs. We have spoiled her of course, but why have a pup if you can't spoil them with love and attention (toy's and treats included).  Jim & Ellie

Cody's doing well. He's a bundle of energy! He's been going to training (OHK9 Search Team) and is progressing very well doing air-scenting for live victims. He's very enthusiastic about the "game" and we're just now starting to introduce problems where he has to use his nose to find the
"victim". He's very focused for such a young pup. Everyone on the team has been very impressed with him. He's doing very well in obedience. He knows sit, down, speak, come, and stay (up to 10 seconds now). I'm working off-lead (clicker and positive reinforcement only). I want him to really enjoy working so I try to make everything as fun as possible. He loves my Belgian Malinois "Laska" however, my sister's Greater Swiss Mountain Dog is probably his favorite playmate. (it seemed a bit odd because there was such a size difference but they just became instant friends!)  Rebecca
Cody - 3 month of age, is a puppy from Holly & Rocket's 2005 Litter

Abbey
Holly & Rocket's Litter 2005

Here are the pictures from Abbey's ride home and her 1st full day exploring the area. She seems to be getting a little more comfortable in her  surroundings, and loves to go to Pet Smart, were she wags her tail and greets everyone. She is still acting like a princess and I guess it will take a little time for her to feel like this is home. I am working from home this week to help her adjust and she is doing fine. We are very happy with her and will keep you posted on her progress. Jim & Ellie

Miler
Hawkeye's Coast Guard & Lightning's Litter

I have be meaning to email you and thank you for what a wonderful experience of getting my first puppy from you all. I actually own one of your yellow labs from the litter of Lighting and Cutter from last June 20, 2004.  So I thought I would email you some pictures of Miler since today is his 1st birthday. He is a very energetic, smart 65 lb. puppy.
He loves to be around people and go for walks. We even sometimes get together with his half brother Scout, that Dee  owns. He is a wonderful puppy and I enjoy every minute with him. Lots of people always compliment on how pretty of a lab he looks.  Thanks for such a neat puppy
Here are pictures from when I brought him home to his birthday!!  Kally

Hayley
Holly & Rocket's 2004 Litter

Here are some pictures of Hayley - two in the Smoky Mountain National Park taken last week and one on her birthday with a "cake" Barb made for her. She was actually afraid of it as it was the first (and last) time she had seen canned dog food.  She is doing great and we take her everywhere with us. She retrieves well (not trail ready), is enthusiastic, and just a great lover. Had her retrieving pheasants at 7 months when she got her first opportunity to hunt on a preserve. She loves to hunt.  Charlie

MHR Wyatt, MH
FTCH-AFTCH BIG VALLEY'S COSTA-LOT SHADDOW  & Jamie's Puppies 2001

Been a while since I spoke with you. I just wanted to stay in touch with you folks and update you on Wyatt's progress. He is healthy and doing great. He weighs about 90lbs and is solid. As for his training, he is coming along very well. This summer Wyatt got his HRCH title in HRC and his MH title in AKC. So before the age of 3, Wyatt got all three top level hunt titles in AKC, HRC and NAHRA. I see some of your other puppies are doing well in AKC, congratulations on the master nationals qualifiers.
Wyatt had a chance to qualify this July in SD. We finished all three series, pinned all nine birds, three very nice blinds and all we had to do was honor the working dog walk off the line get our MH title and qualify for the nationals. Well, Wyatt watched two birds fall and then decided to break on the honor. Oh well, I guess it happens to everyone at some point. I was still proud of him. I saw one of the judges at the next test and he said what a shame in SD since Wyatt had 10's on every mark and ran very sharp blinds was the best dog that day except for the break. We
only run tests from May through August out here so I am very proud of his accomplishments at the tests. I am not quite sure yet but was thinking of maybe trying him in field trials next year. I know he has it in him since many of the dogs at hunt tests this year were also running field trials and not one of them outshined Wyatt in their ability. Hunting season s
tarted out here so we have been keeping busy. We have been hunting blue grouse and 1st flight on duck opened a couple weeks ago. Can't wait for pheasant.  His training has transferred well to the field he is a
pleasure to have as a hunting companion. I am interested in breeding him soon.  Happy hunting.  Scott
*(Wyatt is the Labrador-God Bless America)

We are very pleased with our puppy - Soshmoe.  He is doing wonderful. Yesterday I took him on his first hunting trip. Every time he brought me a duck back. A few weeks ago, we went to our cottage in northern Michigan, and took Soshmoe with us. We have a river by our house so we took him down there to see how he would do with the current. He did GREAT. The cool thing was that about on the third try the current spun him around and he lost track of the bumper, so we pulled him back up onto shore, and went down the river to see if we could get the bumper out of the water. After a little while the bumper got hung up on a couple of trees. By now to get into the water it was about 10 feet straight down. Now we did not want Soshmoe to go back in and try and get it because of the decline and the temperature. Soon he spotted the bumper and there was no stopping him. He jumped down into the water and climbed up on the logs but fell off, then grabbed the bumper and swam back up. We were really proud of him.  As of right now he has had no accidents in the house. Whenever he has to go he goes and sits by the front door until you let him out. When he is done he will come back to the door so he can come back in. Every day he goes to work with me. He is really well-behaved and I don't have to tie him up. We are very pleased with our dog. We did not expect him to learn so quickly. We have had a lot of comments on him. Thank you so much for such a wonderful dog.  Kevin

Misty
Lightning & AFC Hawkeye's Viking Puppies - 2003

Misty passed the last leg for her HR title Sept.18 in Michigan. That's right 10 months old and has earned her HR title. You can probably tell I'm not very excited HA! Misty has been doing well.
She is getting to the point where she insist on training. If we're outside she'll grab a bumper and will not stop shoving it into your lap until you have thrown it several times for her. I think she has stopped growing height wise but look for her to fill out and be about the same size as her mother. I enjoy looking at your web sight to see how her brothers and sisters are doing.  Dominick

Sierra
Holly & Rocket's 2004 Litter

Sierra is doing wonderful! She is getting so big. She had her 14 week booster yesterday and weighed in at 28 lbs. She is in week 3 of puppy training and I would say she is ahead of all the puppies. She could sit, lay, leave it, and take at week 10. She
learned shake last week. She went to the lake last weekend and loved it.  Thank you!!  Suzanne

Cutter
Hawkeye's Coast Guard & Lightning's Litter

Wanted you to know that CUTTER is doing well and is in excellent health. he has been to the London Animal Hospital and all checks are A-OK. I am sending a current photo from today. his weight is 24.6 lbs at 9 weeks. ( Big Boy ) if you have any thing on his Father or other papers please send them. we are keeping him. Cutter has filled the void in our hearts, after losing our boy Jake.  Respectfully:  Greg and Tillie

Honey
Hawkeye's Coast Guard & Lightning's Litter

Honey is wonderful--very smart and playful---and VERY sweet and friendly! I love having her!!! Thank you for starting her out on the right track!  Courtney

Ginger
Jamie & Bear's Puppies - 2004

Ginger is doing very well. We start formal obedience training on Sunday, but she knows quite a lot already. I cannot say enough good things about this dog. She is the hit of the neighborhood in looks, behavior, and temperament! She is very sweet and calm. She loves to chase bugs out in the yard, chew on sticks and
retrieve her favorite ball. She rarely barks and has been very easy to potty train (I kept a potty diary). She has lots of dog friends to play with and a large field near my house where she runs like the wind. She has been a wonderful addition to my life and I love her to pieces. I've attached some pictures, a few from her first day home and some more recent ones (3 mo) She weights 25 lbs and seems to get bigger after every nap.  I hope all is well with the rest of the litters and you and Bob as well.  Michaele

Belle
Holly & Rocket's 2004 Litter

Belle is a sheer bundle of energy and joy. She just graduated her puppy obedience class and has gotten very close to everyone in our family, especially her best friend and fellow Labrador, Jeb. They love to play tug-of-war, keep away, the steal-Jeb's-new toy game, and sometimes snuggle together. The pictures are from a few months ago, so she is about 50 pounds now. She is very sweet and is always ready to greet us with a big smile and a jump (which we are trying to discourage). Although she can be a handful, we love her dearly and would not trade her for any other dog in the world. Thank you so much for such a wonderful dog.  The Frank's

just love him!!!

Cheney - 6 Months
Holly & Rocket's 2004 Litter

Cheney (Running Mate VP Cheney) is awesome and he is more than I expected. He is very smart, very brave and very obedient. He is training very well, even his trainer is excited because he is an awesome water dog and
very receptive to training. Thank you so much for providing him. I've had him in training once a week since 9 weeks old and I work with him every day. He is just over 70 pounds and not quite 6 months old.  Dave

Lucy - 3 Months
Jamie & Bear's Puppies - 2004

We are going to start Puppy Head Start in October. I am trying to become a member of BarkPark at the start of next season. It is a nice 10 acre fenced in yard with a pond and agility course with tons of balls and Frisbees. She is staying a slender little puppy. She is really becoming a smart little girl, when she isn't being stubborn.  Becca

*Lucy comes to play with our puppies and swim in the pond.

Libby - 11 Months

Jessie - 8 Months
Foxy & Bear's Puppies - 2003

Here are a couple of photos of Jessie at 8 months (Bear and Foxy 2003 litter). She's now up to 60 pounds and really starting to build muscle. She's a joy to have and a pleasure to train. Her daily mission is to wake us up as early as possible so she can go to the end of the driveway to retrieve the paper! We're looking forward to hunting with her this fall. She's excellent at marking and very strong on her retrieves. Thanks again for such a beautiful dog.  Neil

Daisy - 2 Months
Holly & Rocket's Puppies-2004

Here are some pictures of Daisy...she's developing great and is a joy to have around! (And not too many accidents anymore!!) She is already following the basic commands (sit, come)--we think she's an all around smart and fabulous dog! Thanks again!  Patsy

Misty
Lightning & AFC Hawkeye's Viking Puppies - 2003

I was able to title Misty as a Started Retriever this past weekend. That's right - four straight passes and she was less than 7 months old. With the help and guidance of Bill Davis we were able to succeed in four straight test. Wanted to thank you for putting me in touch with Bill when I was looking for a pup and needed to know how to train her. The only problem is Bill is having a harder time training me than the dog. Misty is working well still needs a lot of obedience training and also working on force fetch. She loves to retrieve! She has a lot of heart and refuses to come back from a mark without a duck. Woody also passed his test this past weekend. Chris ran Woody it was a first for both. I don't know who was more nervous Chris or Bill. Woody was just excited and having a good time. WE have a lot of training to do before we attempt the next level. It's a big step up from Started to Seasoned. Will try to get some pictures to you soon. Thanks again for the wonderful pup.  Dominick

Wren
Jazz & Bear's 2003 Puppy

Although Wren has not been to the trainer's yet, she is quickly
demonstrating her intelligence.  She has mastered come, sit, stay and almost heel.  However, this weekend she dove into the pool for the first time and did five water retrieves.  Crow was instrumental in this event as he teased her until she finally dove over his head.  She has a very lengthy dive and she loves to compete with Crow (her buddy).  We thought you would like this picture and want to know how she is doing.  We have yet to get a picture of the entire menagerie but we are still trying.  We will let you know when we are successful.  Take care!  Joni
P.S.
Chip and Cheryl are extremely impressed with Scout and all of the pre-training she received.  (Scout is a puppy from Holly & Rocket - 2004.)

Whitaker's Delight, MH
& Kathy Stevens

Kathy Stevens and Whitaker's Delight, MH are pictured to the left after a Hunt test in Prado, California. Whitney passed all of her Master legs - five straight and also getting her qualifying legs without a miss.  The Stevens are professional trainers and Whitney is a puppy from Amber (Grandsire > CFC-CAFC-FC-AFC THE MARATHON MAN and FC-AFC CANDLEWOOD'S M D HOUSTON) & Rocket ( 2XNAFC-FC-2XCNAFC EBONSTAR LEAN MAC).  Kathy & Steve plan on being at the Master Nationals in Wisconsin with Whitney and more of their highly, trained labrador's. Whitney is pictured to the right when she was a little puppy and we use to call her "Rugrat".

Sheila, Woody & Misty have a lot of fun when training and love the outdoors.  Misty is going to be Big like Lightning, Woody resembles Viking and Sheila looks a lot like Lightning.  Below are pictures of Sheila and Woody in the water retrieving.

Rocky
Foxy & Bear's Puppies - 2003

Hello from Rocky.  I wanted to give you an update on Rocky.  Amy and I are completely thrilled with how wonderful he is.  He looks great, healthy and very smart.  We have been taking him to training classes and the instructor mentioned how intelligent he seems.  He is 60lbs at about 6 months and looks to be taking after his mother in looks but his father in energy.  Thanks again!

Libby

Lightning & AFC Hawkeye's Viking Puppies - 2003

We took Libby swimming for the first time last weekend.  She LOVED it.  She did the typical first swim thing. Her front feet were coming way out of the water and she was just paddling for all she was worth.  Then she was splashing so much she got excited about the splashes and tried to catch them in her mouth while she was swimming. It was very funny.  Before we came back to the house, she was swimming like a pro.  She figured out we wanted her to retrieve in the water pretty quick and the only problem we had with that was that I didn't throw it far enough out. She's a leaper!  I'd throw it close in since it was her first time swimming and she was starting to get tired before we tried retrieving.  She kept taking a flying leap into the water and jumping over the thing she was supposed to bring back.  It was a very pretty site to see her taking a running leap into the water.  She's a joy to have.  She always wants to please us and be near us and is content to lay near us wherever we are.  If  I'm cooking she's laying in the kitchen. If I'm pulling weeds outside she's laying near me.  She and Ginny play together constantly.  In fact Ginny tried to help and play a little too much while Libby was trying to learn to swim so we had to keep her out for a while.  Thank you again for her. We love her! Christy and Brian

Buckshot & Ruger
Jazz and Bear's Puppies - 2003
& Foxy & Bear's Puppies - 2003

Buckshot and Ruger are doing great.  They are growing fast.  They have both now managed to get over a 4 1/2 foot fence without much problem.  They are both retrieving pretty good but I am still working on getting the to deliver to hand all the time.  They are both going into the water but Buckshot (black) likes it much more.  I actually have a hard time keeping him out of the water.  He's not delivering to hand out of the water, but he will retrieve as many items as there are in the water.  I have thrown five in at a time and he will get them all.  Ruger (Chocolate) is a little more tentative getting the water but does go,  and is getting better all the time. I am tremendously happy with the pups and am having a great time with them...Doug

Chance
Lightning & AFC Hawkeye's Viking Puppies - 2003

Chance is just about 5 months old now and is doing great!  He's been losing a few teeth here and there and I've been lucky enough to find some of them.  His face and coloring are beautiful and we get compliments all the time.  Now that the weather is starting to warm up a bit we've been able to take long walks at the park together.  He loves being outside!  Thanks again, Jana

Buckeye
Jazz and Bear's Puppies - 2003

Buckeye is getting his adult teeth in now, he has 4 of them.  Still wants to chew chew chew.  He has already got sit, shake hands, lay down, & stay ( still needs improvement ), he is also retrieving good.  We have a bumper he loves to get & drop at your feet.
He loves the creeks running thru the yard.  He likes to splash & tromp thru when he isn't jumping over them.  Keith & Belinda

Woody

Lightning & AFC Hawkeye's Viking Puppies - 2003

Bill is training both Woody and Sheila. Woody is retrieving on the left and Sheila on the right.  Both are little "retrieving machines" and focus very well at their young age.

Libby resides in Kansas and loves to run outside and is very happy playing with Ginny, her best friend.

Kierra
Monster & Dottie's Puppies - 2002

Kierra is 2 years of age, a black female out of Monster and Dottie.  Kierra resembles her sire - Monster in size.  She is pictured to the right when she was 3 months of age. Kristina brought Kierra to visit and helped us for a week when we had our 3 litters of puppies in 2003.

Sheila

Woody
Lightning & AFC Hawkeye's Viking Puppies 2003

They are doing really well... sleeping through the night!  Sheila is quite the prankster... very imaginative, too.  If Woody has a toy and she wants it (which is almost always the case), she comes up with sneaky ways to get it from him.  For instance, she brought in another toy and started playing with it beside Woody.  When Woody took interest in hers, she swiped his and ran away with it.  Another time, she went over to him, put her foot on part of the toy so it was held against the floor and then bit Woody on the ear. When he opened his mouth to protest, she simply lifted her foot and stole the toy away from him.  We are enjoying them immensely and training is going great.  Woody loves laying on Bill's lap.  Bill & Chris

Jack
Foxy & Bear's Puppy - 2003

Jack is pictured at his first Christmas in New York with Tara which helps sit for Jack.  Spoiled to say the least and he is getting soooo... Big!  Just adorable. Tara

Sage
Foxy & Rocket's Puppy 2001

Sage has been a wonderful addition to our family.  The early months were difficult but it was definitely worth it for the wonderful dog that she has become.  She has been through two training classes at PetsMart and graduated with honors.  She gets compliments wherever we go.  Thanks for all the help.  Amy

Otis
Lightning & AFC Hawkeye's Viking Puppies 2003

I just wanted to write and let you know that Otis is doing quite well. He is 20 lbs as of last Friday, so he is growing rapidly!  We couldn't be more pleased.  We have received a number of compliments on his appearance. We, of course think he is the cutest dog ever, but it is nice to hear others say the same!!!  Otis is very intelligent, energetic and inquisitive.  He is getting along great with his older brother (our 7 month old lab, Augie).  They love to run around the property, dig and wrestle.  Otis holds his own pretty well considering his relative size (20 lbs. vs. around 65-70) - plus I think Augie lets him win a lot of their "matches"!  They love to climb to the top and stand on top of the gravel pile- "kings of the hill", so to speak.  The Schenk's

Buckeye
Jazz and Bear's Puppies - 2003

We are having a lot of fun training, exercising and playing with Buckeye! As of December 26, Buckeye weighed 15 lbs and received his second set of shots.  We can tell he has grown since then... he must weigh at least 20 lbs now.  The vet said he looked perfect and healthy.  Buckeye really loves our 5 acre property!  When the temp. was up last week, we took him to the creek, he enjoyed experiencing it and wanted to keep wading in the water.

Libby
Lightning & AFC Hawkeye's Viking Puppy 2003

Libby is an absolute doll.
She sits beautifully, usually before I ask her too if she sees me head for the treats, but also when I hold up the ball.  She absolutely loves Ginny our chocolate labrador.  If Libby is sitting by the gate to go out and we don't see her, Ginny goes in and barks. They beg to go outside and play together.  They play tug  with a doggy rope, chase around the room and yard, and boy do they wrestle. Libby is very verbal.  Libby "talks" the whole time she and Ginny are playing, and when she is getting tired I put her on my lap and tell them both "time out".  I never expected it to become a command, but it didn't take long before they both figured out that when I said that they had to stop playing for a few minutes or until Libby decided to get off my lap and back into the game.  These are Christmas pictures when Libby was 10 weeks of age.  Brian & Christy

Drake
Lightning & AFC Hawkeye's Viking Puppy 2003

Just wanted to finally update you with Drake, the best puppy ever.  He is super smart and is a true lap dog.  When we brought him home on Dec. 20th, he went potty on the floor 3 times and popped on the tile once.  The next day he figured out that all he had to do is go to the French doors leading to our yard and we would let him out to potty.  Within 12 hours, he was and has been completely potty trained.  No one can believe that he learned that outside was the potty place so quickly.  I think that having the French doors for him to look outside was the key for him. He knows how to sit, come, give you his paw, outside, treat, and night night.  He sleeps on pillows in his crate.  Every night I will tell him to go night night and he automatically goes into his crate on his own.  It's amazing.  He uses the full large crate as his bed.  He didn't care to much for the divider, yet has never gone potty in his crate. He is an extremely loving dog.  As soon as you sit on the ground, he is in  your lap or laying snuggled up next to us.  He loves to play with the kids and bark back at them when they bark at him first.  Drake likes to: dig, play in the pouring rain, dig holes in the sand beach area around our pond, play fetch with everything and anything, go on walks through our 16 acres, and give us kisses.  He truly is an amazing pup and we're really enjoying having our new family member. He has made around 5 road trips to and from Dayton already and he travels well in our suburban.  He sleeps in the back seat with the kids. Attached are some pictures that we took of him last week at 10 weeks old. We think he is a handsome little pup and are happy that we found you on the Internet.  You have a great breeding establishment going on.  Keep up the great work.  Andrea, Mike, Nick, Jackie, and Drake

Misty - 3 Months
Lightning & AFC Hawkeye's Viking Puppy 2003

I can't believe Misty is almost 3 months old. She is growing very fast 27lb. at the vets on Tuesday and I think she has grown since then. She is retrieving very well and loves to play outside. She knows sit, still working on down and HERE. Her activity level is increasing by leaps and bounds (leaps on the couch and bounds in Amy's bed.)  I have taken her with me to feed Bill's puppies (their also getting big). It's fun to watch them it's like a big ball of yellow fur (legs, tails and teeth) rolling through the back yard. After a good workout she falls asleep with her head in my lap as we drive home. I'm not very attached to her HA HA HA!!!!  Thanks for the wonderful pup!       Dominick

Daphne
Holly & Rocket's Puppy - 2003

Daphne is a fabulous dog! She has learned many tricks in a very short amount of time. As you can see in the photos, she loves sticks. We have two large maple trees in the back yard that keep her well supplied.   Her favorite game is hide and seek. She searches all over the house with her nose until she finds one of us. She has been socialized with horses since the first day we brought her home. Our horse, Kwik, politely accepts licks on the nose from her.  Bill & Karen

Woody
Lightning & AFC Hawkeye's Viking Puppy 2003

Woody shows his support for Ohio State as they get ready for the Fiesta Bowl game. However, born and raised in a KSU Wildcat Alumni fan home he quickly adjusts to the Big "O" flag.  Sheila (right) shows her support for KSU and still hasn't made the change, waiting for SFC Berg to get home from Iraq.

Slugger younger in photo.
Foxy & Bear's Puppy - 2003

Slugger is just doing great, she is so sweet, and luvable. She loves to climb up and fall asleep in your lap. We are so amazed at how great she is at potty time. She goes right to the door and sits, and gives a little cry, and we're right there to go potty. She is adjusting very well, and we love her so much. We also have been taking her on short drives, so she gets used to the vehicles.
Thanks so much for laying the ground work, with this fine puppy, your love and affection early on in her 1st 2 months, are obviously showing to be a benefit now. We'll keep in touch. Hope you and your family have safe and wonderful holidays.  Take care, and thank you so much! Gary & Brenda & Slugger

Chance
Lightning & Hawkeye's Viking Puppy - 2003

Chance had two vet visits and they said he's beautiful (we knew that!) and very healthy, he's about 28-29 pounds now - our third visit is coming up. He's completely used to the cage and goes in on his own now which is nice and he loves to play in the snow and fetch toys.  We start puppy kindergarten tonight so we're excited to see how it goes.  It's a 7 week class (every Monday).  The photo is of him AFTER playing all day with Boomer, his best friend.  Looks pretty tired doesn't he?  Jana

Wren
Jazz and Bear's Puppies - 2003

Well - we made it home safely without incident.  Wren had lots of attention in the airports and she seemed to enjoy it all. She spent her morning investigating the Christmas tree and sleeping underneath.  I am at the office today and she is asleep by my desk, quite tired after having been played with by an entire staff.  All were anxiously awaiting her arrival.  Will keep you posted on her adventures. Wren is such a joy and has quickly become a part of our family.  The Greene Family

Tag
Holly & Rocket's Puppy - 2003

We received Tag this afternoon via Linderland Stage transport.
Tag jumped into my arms and gave me a complete face bath!  Then he was ready to stretch those legs!  He ran and ran, rolled through the grass and chased us around.   He pottied outside and then we let him see his new house.  He sniffed every corner of our house, checking out every room, curious but cautious.  He ran around inside a while, checked out all his new toys and then fell out on the floor for a nap.  When he woke up we pottied him outside and then he got his first meal and seemed to enjoy it just fine.  After another round of playing inside and out he was more than willing to get in his crate for a break and another power nap.  He's just waking up and we are going to head outside again.  So the report for the first three hours is great.  He is absolutely adorable and we love every inch of him!  He is very active and curious but also very gentle and loving.  He is great with the kids and his favorite game so far is chase our 4 year old Madelyn through the house, full throttle!  Thank you so much he is obviously been well socialized and very well bred/taken care of.  You can be assured that we will give him the best of care and are so glad to have him join the family!  Thank you so much for a wonderful pup!!!! Sarah

Hunter
Holly & Rocket's Puppy - 2003

This is a picture of Hunter with Bailey, his best friend.
He is doing great... He knows "sit", "stay", he's working on  "come" and he is already a big HAM when it comes to the camera.  He has not had one accident in his crate!!!!!  and only has had two in the house, but they have both been at the front door so we're happy.  Nikki

Justus
Holly & Rocket's Puppy - 2003

Just wanted to update you on Justus.  He certainly is Holly's son!  He managed to get his crate open the first night (don't think the latch was all the way down) and we found him trying to jump into our bed!  Needless to say, he slept with us for quite awhile that night.  He has been since sleeping on the floor next to me with his "Holly" towel.  He seems to have adjusted to his new surroundings.  He has also clearly discovered his teeth, so we are working on "appropriate" chewing objects.  He loves chasing his tennis balls, and has found great interest in a soccer ball we have with rope bones on either side (of course it's bigger than he is, but that hasn't stopped him from dragging it all around!).   He is certainly a character!  Mary

Mickey
Jamie & Bear's Puppies - 2002

I had to send you a few updated pictures of Mickey and tell you how absolutely wonderful she is.  I do not know what we would do without her.  We love her to death.  As you can see by the pictures, she is absolutely beautiful!  Of course she's spoiled rotten, but is as loyal as she could be.  She is definitely a daddy's girl.  She cannot get enough of Andrew.  She's very smart (when she wants to be) and just loves to play.  We are absolutely thrilled with her. . .you can tell she comes from great breeding!!  We could not be more pleased with her and have recommended you to many people.  Shanda

Kody
Jamie & Bear's Puppies - 2002

Just a quick note to thank you for raising such a great dog! Kody is really adjusting well and growing like a weed. He has been out on 2 short ( 30 - 45 minute) pheasant hunts and he has flushed and retrieved 2 pheasants and one chukar. Ducks will have to wait until next year....the water's too cold now.  Jerry, 12-2002.

The picture to the left is when Kody (Dusty) was in training retrieving ducks before purchased.  Jerry

Max at 6 Weeks
Holly & Rocket's Puppy - 2003

Hello, well I just wanted to give you an update on Max. He is such a good puppy, he doesn't wet the bed at night and always goes outside when he has to go, well almost every time. I can't believe how he is already retrieving, he is so good and we love him a lot. He also loves to play with our girls. Well, thanks again for Max we love him so much. Steve

Daisy at 6 Weeks
Holly & Rocket's Puppy - 2003

Daisy was missing you this morning and followed me around all morning too until the girls got up to play. She conked out for a nap about 10:00 and slept for about an hour and 1/2. She seems very happy but doesn't like to be alone unless she is sleeping. She threw her ball against the door of the crate to wake us up this morning. Too funny. Thanks again for taking her to the airport and staying up so late to make sure we got her. Daisy slept until 7:00 this morning so she lasted quite a while in her crate last night without potty.  Deborah

Foxy & Rocket Puppies - 2002

I cannot thank you enough for breeding such a wonderful dog - and taking such time and care with her.  You can really tell you worked with her a lot - and it makes all the difference in the world.  Not only do we get comments when we walk her in the park about how cute she is - but also how well behaved she is for a puppy.  And that all started with you.   Bill, Kelley & Sadie

I just wanted to let you know that Tucker has adjusted well to his new home.  The second he got here, he made himself right at home.  We are very happy with Tucker and he is a happy, healthy puppy.  He is smart, affectionate, independent and obedient.  He loves people and Bentley, and everyone loves him.  We just know that you love your dogs and we wanted you to know Tucker is doing very well and is much loved in our home.  Melissa

Amber & Rocket puppies - DOB - April 14, 2002

He is settling in here very well and taking over everything...
Thank you so much for all your help with him.  Charles

I wanted to let you know that Trevy is doing great.  We took him to obedience school and his parents were trained very well.  When we started the class the instructor said we would have a very difficult time trying to train him after letting him run the roost for two months.  But within the next six weeks she said he was a completely different dog and would love to recommend you as a breeder.  We love him to death.  He is a  great friend to play fetch with as well as just hang out.  He is learning come, down, and stay.  And oh boy will he do anything for food.  He is also in love with water, we have taken him to the lake twice and he sure is not afraid.  Seamus, Stephanie, Van Gogh, and Trevy

11-2003 Update:  Since he has just turned 2, I have gotten
his hips, elbows and eyes all checked out.  He is good
on his hips, normal on eyes and elbows.  So he is all checked out.  He is weighing in at 88lbs and looks good.  I ran him in
tests again this summer and he did well.  He got his Master Hunting Retriever(MHR) Title with NAHRA and  finished his Senior Hunt >(SH) Title with AKC.  All  before 2 years old.  I even ran him in a Master test > late summer.  He did well.  He ran all three series and finished every series.  Picked up all the birds and all the blinds.

9-9-2002  Wyatt ran3 tests since Montana and passed all three.  Two NAHRA Intermediate this weekend and got his working retriever title.  Another AKC Senior in late August and got his second leg!

Just wanted to update you on Wyatt. He is doing well. He was 75lbs a couple weeks ago. Starting to fit his skin but still has some room in there. He is healthy and very strong. I have been running him in AKC hunt tests lately and he has performed very well. Wyatt has his Junior Hunt Title...4 in a row! I also ran him in 2 senior hunt tests while in MT. He came up short in his 1st senior hunt test on Wednesday.  He made it through the land series but fell just short in the water series. But, he got his first senior hunt pass on Sunday. Not bad for a nine month old. He has been the youngest dog in every test and by far the youngest in senior. I plan on running him in a couple more tests this year but am mostly getting him ready for hunting season this fall. I am very excited to get in the field with Wyatt. I am very happy with and proud of Wyatt. He is very smart, willing to please and loves his work.  Scott

Star at 6 Weeks

Wyatt's sister > Star

It's good to hear Star's brother is doing so well!  It has been so hot and dry this summer in South Carolina that we haven't gotten any training in for months.  We are very pleased with Star, she is the Queen of the kennel, very fast off the line and loves to retrieve.  Last spring, during practice sessions, she would become very impatient if she saw a mark that one of the big dogs missed..."let me at it, don't you see it?  I know where it is!"  Jeff & Lynee
